    Scottish Liberal Democrat economy spokesperson Willie Rennie has today called on the SNP Government to follow the UK Government and provide grants for guest houses and B&Bs in the hard-hit tourism and hospital sector.

    Scottish Guest Houses and B&Bs have been excluded from the recent grant support allocated in Scotland, while similar businesses in England have been told they will be receiving up to £15,000.

    Scottish Liberal Democrat justice spokesperson Liam McArthur has today revealed the longest outstanding waits for fatal accident inquiries in Scotland now run to almost a decade and branded such inquiries "next to useless and an insult to families."

    The party are now calling for the Scottish Government to remove such inquiries from the remit of the Crown Office and set a one-year timeline for them to commence. For cases which do not commence within 12 months, the investigating body will be required to provide a report to the government and to relatives of the deceased outlining why this has occurred.

    Scottish Liberal Democrat communities spokesperson Willie Rennie has warned that the Scottish Government has effectively "legalised littering" and called for people who illegally dispose of their waste to "face the full force of the law" as it emerged that 134,974 reports of flytipping were flagged to local authorities in the past two years, but only 34 were referred to the Procurator Fiscal.

    Scottish Liberal Democrat health spokesperson Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP has today said that new funding is needed for drug and alcohol services after new figures revealed more than 850 babies born dependent on substances since 2017.

    Statistics compiled by the Scottish Liberal Democrats through freedom of information requests show that at least 856 babies were born with neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS) - showing signs of drug addiction because of their mother taking legal or illegal drugs during pregnancy.
